I use to complain about the 3 hour drive, as much as I loved going back home to visit my parents the drive was JUST a very long drive. After losing a parent (my dad) I realized how fast time goes by. You realize that you don't get those days back you just have all memories. The drive is boring but the time that I get to spend visiting my mom, eating pizza, sipping coffee and making visits to Wolf Lake are all that really matter. I snapped a few photos of Wolf Lake, it had been a year since my mom and I had taken a drive around the lake so we decided to pay the lake a visit. It's a place that we both hold dearly in our hearts.

My grandparents had a home on the lake and owned the lake for many years. Summers on the lake were some of the best. The beach at the time was full of sand, we (my siblings and cousin Jeremy and I)would spend countless hours building sand castles and swimming. I'd spend time sitting on their dock fishing, I'd never touch the fish but I always had someone around who was brave enough to take it off the hook.

My grandfather would take my grandma and I out for an evening boat ride around the lake which I always enjoyed. Oh.... the good ole days which I miss dearly.

The beach at Wold Lake is now over grown with weeds. My grandparents home was painted and doesn't look the same and makes me a little sad. I know things change and it's to be expected but I don't like it. The view of the lake is still beautiful and brings back so many fun memories. It was such a happy, fun and family oriented place that we called Wolf Lake.

My mom always has beautiful flower gardens and inspires me.

While back visiting my mom I got to see my nephew Kyle and his girlfriend and see Charlie the dog.

My mom and I , thanks to Kyles girlfriend she snapped a photo of us together.

Sometimes we make our way to Riverside Cemetary while in Marshalltown. Alot of times we are too early for our favorite pizza place because it doesn't open until 4 pm so we just bide time. My mom likes it here, due to how peacefull and beautiful the grounds are. The swans and geese are in abundance and really enjoy the little pond.

It's always fun going back to the places that you spent time at in your younger years. I remember when my siblings and I were younger, my mom would bring us to the Riverside Cemetary and we'd feed the geese, even though they frightened me when I was younger and they still do. If you know me I'm not a fan of wild animals and I consider geese wild animals.
